The Digital Governance Committee recently appointed by the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, held its first meeting, focusing on the government’s plan to build a modern, fully digital system.
The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Communications and Technology, Mohamed Aden Moallim, focused on how to unify government systems, build a unified database, and accelerate modern, technology-based service delivery.
The meeting was attended by the ministers of Finance, Planning, Education, Commerce, Health, Labor, Security, and Interior, as well as officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and Villa Somalia.
The officials agreed that it is of particular importance to have a unified system for government data, to facilitate access to information and services needed by citizens.
The meeting also discussed accelerating modern administrative processes, enhancing cooperation between ministries involved in the decentralized governance system, and ensuring transparency and accountability of government institutions.
This new committee, part of the government’s plan to modernize administration and services, is set to lead a transformation that unifies government systems and creates a more efficient and digital system that directly supports public services.
