The Governor of Banadir Regional Administration and Mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), today received two modern fire engines from the United Arab Emirates, which will strengthen the emergency services in the capital.

The donation is part of the long-standing partnership between the Federal Government of Somalia and the United Arab Emirates, and was the result of recent discussions between the Mayor of Mogadishu and the UAE Ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed Juma Mohamed Al Remeithi, which focused on improving public services, especially firefighting and sanitation in the city.

Mayor of Mogadishu Muungaab thanked the UAE for its continued support for the Somali people, noting that this donation is a good start to a broader partnership between the cities of Abu Dhabi and Mogadishu, and will enhance the administration’s ability to respond to emergencies.

“The UAE responded quickly to our request,” said the Governor of Banadir Regional Administration and Mayor of Mogadishu.

The ceremony to hand over the fire trucks was attended by the Minister of Interior of the Somali Government, Ali Yusuf Ali (Xoosh), and other officials from the Federal Government and the Banadir Regional Administration.

This new partnership demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s reconstruction and development efforts, prioritizing essential social services such as security, sanitation, and firefighting.
