The Government of Oslo has clearly demonstrated its commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, pledging to increase its support to Somalia in preventing and managing humanitarian situations and natural disasters.

The commitment was made by Merete Dyrud, Deputy Head of the Norwegian Embassy in Somalia, after a meeting with the Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Authority (SoDMA), Mahmud Moalim Adam, in Mogadishu.

Dyrud said that the Norwegian government will play an active role in supporting ongoing efforts in Somalia to reduce the impact of humanitarian situations and natural disasters.

She also indicated that Norway will increase aid and support, with a focus on strengthening preventive measures and rapid response to difficult situations affecting Somali society.

Meanwhile, SoDMA Chairman, Mahmoud Moalim Aadam, thanked Norway for its continued support to Somalia, expressing hope that the new commitments will help improve relief efforts and deliver timely assistance to communities in need.

Norway has long been a humanitarian partner in Somalia, participating in programs supporting relief, community resilience, and overall stabilization in the country.
