The Saudi government has approved a cooperation agreement between the Saudi Presidential Security Department and the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency, which concerns combating terrorism and its financing.

This came during a meeting of the Saudi Cabinet, chaired by King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, in Jeddah on Tuesday, May 20, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The meeting discussed the importance of this agreement for the Saudi and Somali governments, and the Council acknowledged the need to support Somalia in its fight against Al-Shabaab and ISIS.

Last week, the Somali government approved a security agreement signed by the Ministry of Defense with its Saudi counterpart, and these agreements demonstrate the commitment of the two countries to work together on regional security and combating terrorism.

Experts in the region see the security agreements between these two governments as a strategic step that enhances the ability of both countries to address security issues, in order to strengthen relations between Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
