The governments of Somalia and Egypt today signed the Defense and Security Cooperation Agreement in Cairo, the capital of the country, after an important meeting between the two presidents and ministers from the two governments.

The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdifatah El-Sisi, jointly confirmed that the defense and security cooperation agreement between the two countries is an important step to enhance security and stability in the region.

“This new defense agreement will pave the way for close cooperation between the ministries of defense and security of the two countries, and it is agreed to implement joint plans to strengthen the defense and security capabilities of Somalia,” said a statement. Somali Presidency.

On the other hand, the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, thanked the Egyptian government for clearly opposing Ethiopia’s desire to take part of Somalia’s water and land.

“The relationship between Somalia and Egypt is strong and brotherly cooperation, and I commend the Egyptian government for its clear stance against Ethiopia’s interference in the territorial independence and unity of the Republic of Somalia,” said President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Finally, the agreement signed today between Somalia and Egypt is coming to an end, as the talks in Ankara between Somalia and Ethiopia regarding the agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland at the beginning of this year did not go through.
