Ilhan Omar, a representative of the United States of America from the Democratic Party, and one of the members of the upper house known as “Squad” won her first race in the state of Minnesota.

Ilhan Omar, 41, successfully defended her seat in Minneapolis’ 5th District, defeating Don Samuels, a former Minneapolis City Council member.

While speaking to her supporters in Minneapolis, Ilhan Omar was announcing some of the programs of the Democratic Party candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris in her presidential campaign.

“I am honored that my community voted to send me back to Congress. Tonight’s victory shows us that the fifth district believes in the collective values ​​that we are fighting for in Washington,” said Ilhan.

Ilhan Omar received 56.2 percent of the vote, compared to 42.9 percent for Don Samuels, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State.
