The former Prime Minister of Somalia, Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, praised Turkey’s efforts to end what he called Ethiopia’s aggression towards the territorial integrity of Somalia.

Former Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid suggested that any agreement with Ethiopia does not include or suggest that Ethiopia establish a military base or obtain rights in Somalia’s maritime territory.

Omar Abdirashid called on the Federal Government of Somalia to seek expert advice on the ongoing talks.

The statement of the former prime minister of Somalia coincides with the fact that today in Ankara, talks are going on between Somalia and Ethiopia, while the Turkish government, which is mediating, wants to end the dispute between the two countries.

Turkey said that the dispute between the two countries can be ended by giving Ethiopia access to Somalia’s waters, while respecting Somalia’s independence.
