OPEC and Somalia reached an agreement on the debt owed to Somalia

An agreement was signed with the International Development Fund of OPEC and the Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Bihi Iman Cige, in the city of Vienna, Austria, in which the agreement was reached to resolve the debts owed by the OPEC Fund to Somalia totaling $36 million.

The agreement reached by the Federal Government of Somalia and the OPEC Fund has an important role played by the Saudi Government which has facilitated the discussions on the solution to this debt and the way to solve it which has been standing for a long time in Somalia.

The Minister of Finance of Somalia said that the agreement played an important role in facilitating the Saudi Government and he thanked them.

“We have reached an agreement today with the OPEC Fund to resolve the debt owed to us by the Fund which reached $36 million. We are grateful for the support of the Saudi Government that facilitated the process of resolving this debt. This is another success in the Debt negotiations. Somalia’s amnesty, which has been successful in supporting Somalia’s economic stability”. Somali Finance Minister Bihi Iman said.

The agreement reached today by the Federal Government of Somalia and the OPEC Fund, which has been negotiated and held at different levels of meetings, means that Somalia will have the opportunity in the near future to participate in the development projects of the OPEC Fund. give the same to developing countries like Somalia especially in Africa.
