The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has announced that he is ready to leave his presidency for the unity of Somalia and the return of the northern regions of the country.
President Hassan Sheikh, who was speaking at the commemoration of the 64th anniversary of the independence of the northern regions of Somalia, now known as Somaliland, said that they will not allow part of the Somali land to be cut off.
The president said that the government of Somalia is not against Somaliland making trade and investment agreements with the world, but he said that they are against anything that harms the unity and solidarity of Somalia.
“What we are against is not development and increased cooperation, but the taking of our land. They did not allow a meter of our land to be taken. “Yesterday, we did not leave the port of Berbera, so we did not talk about it, because it seemed to us that it is not accepted and it will be a Somali port, but today the situation is different,” said the president.
President Hassan Sheikh also spoke strongly about the violation of the Ethiopian government against the independence of Somalia, he said that the illegal agreement between Muse Bihi and the Prime Minister of Ethiopia is directly against the nationalism and unity of Somalia. .
The President urged the Somali people to stand firm for their unity and independence, noting that the government is committed and has a duty to protect the sovereignty and existence of Somalia.
