The Chinese Embassy in Somalia has responded to Somaliland’s participation in the inauguration of the leader of Taiwan that took place on May 20.
The spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in Somalia told the press that China’s position is that Somaliland is part of Somalia.
“China does not see Somaliland as a country, and agrees with the fundamental fact that Somaliland is Somalia’s territory,” said the spokesperson of the Chinese embassy.
The spokesperson of the Chinese embassy said that many governments, political leaders and other individuals believe in China’s principle against Taiwan secession.
China’s statement came after Somaliland recently sent a delegation to Taiwan to attend the inauguration ceremony of the recently elected leader of Taiwan.
