The African Development Bank today donated an amount of $18 million dollars to the Federal Government of Somalia, which is intended to deal with the problems caused by climate change.
The signing of the agreement between the African Development Bank and the government of Somalia took place in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, during the annual meeting of the African Development Bank.
The Financial Agreement was jointly signed by the Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia Bihi Iman Cige and the Vice President of the African Development Bank Dr. Beth Dunford.
The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Bihi Iman Cige, said that this agreement is important for the government, and a lot will be done to combat the repeated droughts in the country.
“We are very happy that we have won $18 million from the African Development Bank. The total amount for this project is $35 million. Somalia has received more than 50% of it, and it will deal with drought, floods, and increasing agricultural production,” said Minister Bihi Iman Cige.
Finally, in the city of Nairobi, Kenya, the annual meeting of the African Development Bank is going on smoothly, with the participation of all the leaders of the African countries, and Somalia is represented in this meeting by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
