A senior Hamas leader, Osama Hamdan, has strongly warned against the resurgence of plans to displace Palestinians, which he said are now being pursued through new channels, especially through talks about Israeli recognition of Somaliland.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera, Hamdan said that this is part of a broader Israeli project aimed at wiping out Palestinian land from its people, whether in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank.

He noted that Israel is trying to find another place to carry out forced displacement, while at the same time seeking to establish a political and security base in the Horn of Africa.

Hamdan denied Israeli claims that there are statistics or surveys indicating that Gazans want to leave their homes, stressing that “not a single Palestinian wants to leave his land.”

He pointed out that bombings, sieges and widespread destruction have never forced the Palestinian people to give up their land.

He also noted that tens of thousands of Palestinians quickly registered to return to Gaza when registration opened, which is proof of their attachment to their land despite the hardships and severe destruction.

Meanwhile, Osama Hamdan confirmed that Hamas and the Palestinian factions in general have contacted Arab, Islamic and African parties to clarify the Palestinian national position against displacement, warning anyone involved in what he described as a “new crime” against the Palestinian people.
