Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland is illegal and unacceptable.

Speaking at a press conference in Istanbul with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that significant progress has been made in Somalia’s security, despite what he said were disruptive actions by parties that do not want Somalia to recover.

Erdogan noted that Turkey plans to start drilling operations in 2026, saying that these measures will greatly contribute to improving the lives and welfare of the Somali people.

He also said that Ankara has added two new deep-sea drilling vessels to its fleet.

For his part, the Somali President said that at a time when Somalia is facing threats to its territorial integrity and independence, it has clearly felt the support of Turkey and the Turkish people.

Soomaaliya ayaa diiddan inay aqoonsato Somaliland inay tahay dowlad madax-bannaan, waxayna u aragtaa inay tahay qayb ka mid ah dhulkeeda, iyadoo heshiis kasta ama xiriir toos ah oo lala yeesho Somaliland ay u aragto xadgudub ka dhan ah madaxbannaanida iyo midnimada Soomaaliya.
