The regional governments of Southwest, Galmudug, Hirshabelle and Northeast have strongly opposed the decision of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to recognize Somaliland.
Various press releases issued by these four regional governments strongly condemned Netanyahu’s decision to recognize Somaliland as an independent country from Somalia.
Press releases issued by the regional governments of Southwest, Hirshabelle. Galmudug and Northeast stated that Somaliland is part of Somali territory, and that it cannot be separated from the territory and nationhood of Somalia.
These governments also stated in their statements that they fully support the unity and territorial independence of Somalia, and called on international governments to respect the territorial sovereignty and borders of Somalia.
In addition to these four administrations that have declared their opposition to Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland, it is noteworthy that they have not yet spoken out about Israel’s violation of Somalia’s territorial sovereignty against the Puntland and Jubbaland administrations, which have previously declared themselves independent states from the Federal Government of Somalia.
