The Commander of the Banadir Regional Police Force, Mahdi Omar Mumin, chaired the weekly security conference in the capital city of Mogadishu.
The conference, which was held at the regional police headquarters, was attended by the commanders of the Banadir regional districts and senior officers operating in Mogadishu.
The conference focused on strengthening security in the districts of Banadir and preparing for the local council elections scheduled to be held at the end of November.
The Commander of the Banadir Regional Police Force first listened to a report from the commanders of the various stations in Banadir districts, who provided details on the security situation in the areas under their control and their safety.
Mahdi Omar Mumin said that the Banadir Regional Police is fully committed to ensuring security at polling stations and election centers, so that the Somali people can have a safe environment in which to elect their local representatives.
The commander also directed officers and police forces to work closely with the community, especially vulnerable people such as women, youth and people with disabilities, and stressed that the security of Mogadishu depends on the cooperation of the public and the forces.
This conference comes as the local council elections in the districts of Banadir region are set to be held on November 30, 2025, and final preparations are still underway by the administrative, security, and technical sectors to ensure the holding of the local council elections in the districts of Banadir region.
