The Governor of Lower Shabelle region in the South West administration of Somalia, Ibrahim Adan Ali (Najax), has strongly condemned the horrific incident that took place yesterday in an area under the Wanlaweyn district of the region.
The Governor of Najax has threatened that he will not find shelter anywhere in the groups that brutally killed the elderly man in the village of Dudumaaye under the Wanlaweyn district of the Lower Shabelle region.
“First of all, I send my deepest condolences to the relatives, family and all the Somali people on the tragic death of a citizen who was brutally killed and then his body was burned, in an act that took place on the outskirts of Wanlaweyn district,” said the Governor of Lower Shabelle region, Ibrahim Adan Ali (Najax).
The killing of the elderly man is said to be related to clan-based revenge, and it was also indicated that the man who was killed was mentally ill.
The governor of Lower Shabelle region said that this incident is extremely shameful and unacceptable, and that strict action will be taken to ensure that such an incident does not happen again.
“This heinous incident is completely unacceptable. The Lower Shabelle regional administration strongly condemns this act and announces that strict legal action will be taken to ensure that this crime does not happen again,” said Governor Najax.
He also noted that security forces have now begun investigations into the groups behind this incident and that the forces have arrested four of the groups accused of this act.
“I order the Wanlaweyn District Administration and the security agencies to immediately fulfill their duties and bring the perpetrators to justice. Governance begins with Justice,” said the Governor of Lower Shabelle, Ibrahim Adan Ali (Najax).
The statement from the Governor of Lower Shabelle comes as the Somali people are demanding justice for the groups behind the heinous murder of the elderly man who was burned alive.
