The new Commander of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Lt. Gen. David Keter, has paid an official visit to Kenyan troops operating in Somalia under the AUSSOM operation, to assess ongoing operations and boost morale.
Lt. Gen. Keter was warmly welcomed by the Second Division Commander of AUSSOM, Edward Banda, and his Deputy, Colonel Samson Kenga. The delegation visited key bases in the towns of Dhobley, Afmadow, and Kismayo.
During the visit, Lt. Gen. Keter stressed the importance of the AUSSOM operation in combating Al-Shabaab, stabilizing liberated areas, and strengthening the capacity of the Somali military to take over national security.
Lt. Gen. Banda described the commander’s visit as timely, which has boosted the morale of the troops.
He also reaffirmed that the Second Division of AUSSOM is fully committed to fulfilling its mandate, as stated in a statement issued by AUSSOM.
