The district of Mahaas in the Hiran region, where the latest mobilization against Al-Shabaab is underway, has received a large number of troops in the past few hours.
These troops came from the districts of Guriceel and Matabaan in the Hiran and Galgaduud regions, and are from the Habargidir clan.
The officers leading these forces who arrived in the town of Mahaas said that they will play an important role in the ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab in the areas of the Hiran region.
“We have come here to pay the price that Hawadle did to us in 2008, when Gurceel and Dhusamareb were being liberated. Al-Shabaab’s Khawarij died with us at that time. We are ready to die with them, that’s why we are here. It is the duty of those who die with you to die with you,” said an officer from the Habargidir army who arrived in Mahaas.
Footage posted on social media showed a convoy of military vehicles entering the town of Mahaas, where they were warmly welcomed by the people of Mahaas.
The troops are set to reinforce government forces and the Maoists, who are currently making their final preparations to liberate the town of Moqokori in Hiran region.
