The Cabinet of the Federal Government of Somalia held its regular meeting today, chaired by Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre. The meeting approved the National Higher Education Commission, after it was proposed by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education.
This new committee, consisting of 15 members, was selected in a transparent and fair manner, all of whom are scholars with high qualifications and experience in education and administration. The purpose of this committee is to improve the quality and system of higher education in the country.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education has greatly appreciated the approval of the Cabinet of the Federal Government of Somalia of the members of the National Higher Education Commission.
This commission, which is legally based on the National Higher Education Law 𝗟𝗿.𝟯𝟬 issued in December 2024, is responsible for leading, managing, and guiding the country’s Higher Education Institutions, in accordance with the Higher Education Law.
The process of selecting the members of the Board went through various stages. The officials assigned to select the Board, based on the legal requirements and standards established for membership of the Board, reviewed all applications in a transparent, fair and independent manner, with particular focus on the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidates who applied to become members of the Board, a statement from the Ministry of Education said.

1. Dr. Abdinur Sheikh Mohamud Chairman of the Board.
2. Dr. Mohamed Ali Farah Deputy Chairman of the Board.
3. Dr. Ayaan Sh. Abdullahi Mohamed Member.
4. Dr. Ahmed Adam Mohamed Member.
5. Dr. Roble Ibrahim Liban Member.
6. Dr. Abdulqadir Cabdulle Cibaar Member.
7. Dr. Abdishakuur Sh. Xasan (Fiqi) Member.
