Hiran regional governor Muse Salad Wehliye has strongly criticized the aid provided by SODMA to the Somali National Army in Moqokori district of Hiran region.
Governor Muse said that the aid provided by SODMA was not what they expected from the government, noting that several cartons of food that were not suitable for the Somali National Army were delivered in two planes.
“For the people here to have SODMA deliver these few cartons that they are satisfied with and applaud is not possible for us, the Somali National Army sacrificed their lives to defend the country, and for them to be brought a few cartons that are not suitable for a name is a scandal and a great shame for the government,” said Hiran regional governor Muse Salad Wehliye.
Muse Salad also pointed out that the federal government was late in providing aid to the Somali National Army in Hiran, and called on government leaders to provide real aid to the Somali National Army, which has been fighting against Al-Shabaab for several years.
The statement by the Hiran governor comes as the Somali National Army has doubled its operations against Al-Shabaab in recent days, achieving significant gains in the ongoing fighting on the border between Hiran and Middle Shabelle.
However, the people of Hiran have also heavily criticized the aid delivered by SODMA to Moqokori yesterday on social media, describing it as undeserving of the people of Hiran.
Finally, this much-criticized aid is finally arriving, as SODMA previously delivered more than 10 trucks carrying various aid items to the Middle Shabelle region, namely Masaajid Ali Gaduud, Ceel Ali Ahmed, Nur Dugle and other areas, while in Hiiraan it only delivered a few cartons.
