Puntland security forces launched a multi-pronged attack on ISIS remnants hiding in the Calmiskaad mountains this morning.
According to security officials, the attack caused losses to ISIS, with Puntland forces seizing, according to military officials, a large amount of weapons and strategic bases belonging to the group in the Bari region.
The forces, which specifically targeted the Miraale stream, which was the largest ISIS stronghold, succeeded in eliminating the last ISIS defenses.
It took Puntland forces more than a month to enter Miraale stream, due to strong defenses established by ISIS fighters there.
The third phase of the Calmiskaad operation appears to have concluded, with ISIS fighters gathering in a few trenches.
Puntland President Said Deni is expected to deliver a speech to discuss the successes achieved in the ISIS operation.
