The Federal Government of Somalia has claimed victory in a battle that took place in the past few hours between the Somali National Army, supported by local residents, and the Al-Shabaab group in the Boos Hareri area of the Middle Shabelle region.
A government statement said that up to 20 members of the Al-Shabaab group were killed in the battle, after the group launched an attack on Boos Hareri, according to information provided by the government.
“The forces, who were aware of the Khawarij attack, repelled it, dealing a heavy blow to the mistaken terrorists. During the battle, 20 conspirators, including senior leaders and militias, were killed,” the government statement said.
The federal government statement also said that the allied forces seized vehicles and military equipment belonging to the Al-Shabaab group that attacked Boos Hareri.
The attack inflicted casualties on the group is increasing, as in recent days Al-Shabaab has significantly increased its attacks on some areas and districts in the Middle Shabelle region.
Finally, the Somali Ministry of Defense Spokesperson, who was at the forefront of the battle, praised the allied forces for their successes in the latest operations in Middle Shabelle.
“I commend the achievements of the national heroes and those who fought the righteous fight against the Khawarij Al-Habaab, especially in the battles that took place in Boos Hareri and Laba Garas, where the group was severely defeated. The troops attacked the Khawarij who were cooking Canbuulo on a clear day of fasting. They are not fasting people, who lie about religion and eat it during the month of Ramadan,” said Abukar Mohamed, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense.
