The Somali Cabinet has once again warned the public to stay away from areas where Al-Shabaab is present, saying that the federal government is stepping up air and ground operations to combat the Al-Shabaab group.

In a press release issued by the Cabinet, it called on the public to carefully stay away from areas where Al-Shabaab members are present, to avoid possible harm from counter-terrorism attacks.

On the other hand, the Cabinet commended the efforts of the Armed Forces and local communities in the fight against Al-Shabaab.

The government also issued a stern warning to anyone who allows their homes, businesses or vehicles to be used for acts that threaten national security. The government noted that anyone found in this situation will be held accountable and will be treated as if they were directly involved in an act of terrorism.

The government also issued a warning to anyone spreading false information, saying that anyone found guilty of such an act will be prosecuted and severely punished.

Finally, the Cabinet decided that no weapons or military vehicles can be brought into the compound of Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu.
