The Federal Government of Somalia has deployed additional troops to the Adaan Laxey area in the Middle Shabelle region to participate in operations against the Al-Shabaab group.
The area where the government deployed additional troops is one of the areas recently attacked by the Al-Shabaab group, which has increased its attacks on parts of the Middle Shabelle region in recent days.
The troops deployed to the Adaan Laxey area under the town of Ruunirgood are units of the specially trained police force known as Haramacad.
In recent days, government forces have been conducting operations in most areas of the Middle Shabelle region in cooperation with local fighters fighting the Al-Shabaab group.
However, in the early stages of the fighting in the Middle Shabelle region, officials including the Commander of the Somali National Army, General Odawaa Yusuf Raage, the Commander of the Land Forces, Sahal Abdullahi Omar, and the Chairman of the First Class Court of the Armed Forces, Hassan Ali Nur Shute, have intensified the fighting in recent days.
