Puntland has welcomed ISIS contacts who benefited from President Sidi Deni’s amnesty, which is intended for anyone who previously worked with ISIS but has turned away from it.
Although the individuals who surrendered were not identified, a press release from the anti-ISIS operation in Hillaac said that Puntland commended the government and intellectuals who facilitated this opportunity, helping them surrender.
The Puntland administration also noted that the opportunity is still open until the deadline expires this week.
Puntland has stated that the anti-terrorism operation will continue until the entire region is free of terrorist groups.
The administration thanked the public, especially those living in rural areas, for actively reporting ISIS defectors and anyone suspected of committing insecurity.
President Deni recently granted amnesty to anyone who surrenders to his administration, giving them a seven-day period to surrender or change their minds.
