The Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed and a large delegation led by him were recently welcomed at Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud left Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his delegation at the Aden Adde Airport, and Abiy Ahmed’s delegation was sent to the Somali Presidential Palace.

A brief statement from the presidency of Somalia said that the purpose of Abiy Ahmed’s trip to Mogadishu is related to the completion of the Ankara agreement between the two countries and to open a new page in the diplomatic relations between Mogadishu and Addis Ababa.

“The visit of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed who came to Mogadishu for an official visit is part of the rapprochement and the new page that is opening for the two countries, in terms of cooperation, mutual appreciation and to bring stability to the region, after one year of relations between the two countries that have been beset by obstacles,” the statement said.

The Minister of Information of Somalia, Daoud Aweys Jama said that Abiy Ahmed’s visit to Mogadishu reflects the rapprochement of the two countries and the new path taken based on cooperation and relationship based on economic development.

Finally, the Somali people and the governments concerned about the affairs of Somalia and the region as a whole are looking forward to the outcome of today’s meeting between the President of Somalia and the Prime Minister of Ethiopia.
