Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the suicide attack that took place last night at the Top Coffee restaurant in Boondeere district of Banadir region, where at least five people died and 20 others were injured.

In a statement published on the Al-Shabaab website, it was said that the group launched a suicide attack on a place near Villa Somalia where they said they were going to party with officials, intelligence and government workers.

Al-Shabaab said that the place where the attack took place is a very secure place, but they were able to carry out an attack using a vehicle from there.

In addition to Al-Shabaab’s claim, no military or government personnel have been confirmed dead in the attack. The Somali police said that most of the people who died in the attack were civilians who were walking on the road, who were hit by the explosion.

However, in this attack, many people believe that Al-Shabaab is showing the existence of their security threat, at a time when the number of attacks in Mogadishu has decreased.
