The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, has strongly responded to a recent statement by the National Security Adviser to President Farmajo, which was that if the government does not surrender, Ethiopia should give Al-Shabaab a go.
The Minister of Fiqi said in a text published on his blog that Abdisaid Musa Ali, who was the security advisor to President Farmajo, was apparently normalizing the extremist ideology of the Al-Shabaab group.
“I am aware of what former minister Abdisaid recently said in an interview with the Somali BBC. Respecting freedom of speech, the statement suggesting the compromise of Somalia’s independence or the normalization of the idea that Al-Shabaab can be trusted is a deep and unacceptable problem. Foreign Minister Ahmed Macalin Fiqi said.
The statement made by the former advisor to President Farmajo has been widely shared on social media in the past few days, after a strong reaction to Abdisaid Muse’s suggestion that the current government cannot leave Ethiopia and should give way to Al- Shabab to attack Ethiopia.
The conclusion of the proposal of the former adviser to President Farmajo was also described as a great misfortune by many Somali politicians and people.
