The spokesman of the Somali Correctional Service, Abdiqani Mohamed Khalaf, gave more details about an attack that took place today inside Hamar Central Prison.
The spokesman said that the attack was officially ended and 5 prisoners were killed among those who fought, and 18 other prisoners were also injured in the attack.
He also said that the prison guards killed three soldiers in the attack and wounded three others.
“Five prisoners were killed, 18 were injured, three soldiers were killed, three others were injured and the operation has ended,” said the spokesman of the Correctional Service, Abdiqani Mohamed Khalaf.
The spokesperson of the Somali Correctional Service also said that investigations are underway to find out how the prisoners of war got the weapons.
“The commander will send an investigation and the reasons why these things happened, and you will get the answer,” said Abdiqani Mohamed Khalaf, the spokesperson of the police force.
Finally, such an attack took place in the year 2020 inside the prison, after inmates in the prison who had weapons hidden in food fought among themselves inside the Hamar Central Prison.
