The Federal Government of Somalia said that an aerial attack carried out by drones, which took place in the Bari region, targeted members of the Daesh group.

A brief news release from the government said that the bombing operation was carried out in collaboration with the forces of the Somali government and those of the international friends of the American government.

“The national army, with the support of international friends, especially the United States, has defeated the Daesh terrorist group in the Bari region. The operation, which is part of the fight against terrorism, was defeated by Daesh militias who were gathering there,” said the statement issued by the Somali government.

The statement issued by the Federal Government did not detail the actual losses inflicted on the Daesh group as a whole and the specific location of the bombing operation.

This attack is the second in a week that the federal government of Somalia says it carried out in areas of Puntland and targeted members of Al-Shabaab and Daesh.

In the previous attack, the federal government claimed to have killed 20 Al-Shabaab members, but this was denied by Puntland, which said that there are no federal government troops in the areas of that administration.
