The United States has promised to pay $100M for new military bases, with the aim of the Somali army taking over the security of the ATMIS army by the end of the year.
This support was stated in a meeting between the Minister of Defense of Somalia, Abdulkadir Nur and the US Ambassador.
The two officials discussed strengthening efforts against terrorism and enhancing national security.
It was recently when the United States and the government of Somalia signed a security agreement for the construction of Somali forces, which are capable of taking over the responsibility of security and the war against Al-Shabaab.
The signing of this agreement comes at a time when the Horn of Africa is facing a crisis caused by the agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia on January 1.
The agreement allows Addis Ababa access to the Red Sea to enable the recognition of Somaliland.
