Somali forces, especially the 18th Battalion Eagle Commando, have conducted planned operations in areas of Mudug region in the past few hours.
The planned operation was carried out by the army in the rural areas between the Shabelleow and Aad areas in the south of Mudug region.
The deputy commander of the 18th battalion of the Eagle Commando, Colonel Suulnuuge, who led the army that carried out the planned operation, told the national media that the troops entered the bases where Al-Shabaab was hiding in Shabeelow area.
“The Kharijite resistance group fled from their bases in the rural areas of Aad and Shabelle after the army carried out a cleanup operation,” said Sulnuuge commander.
The commander also pointed out that the army is still following the Al-Shabaab members who fled from the bases where they were hiding, and the operation will continue until the Al-Shabaab group in Galmudug areas is eliminated.
