Al-Shabaab fighters shot 5 people in a public square in Tiyegloow district of Bakool region, accusing them of being spies.
The group said that the five people who were all men were found to be spies working for the United States and Ethiopian Intelligence.
The five people who were shot in the square in Tiyeglow district were identified as Aweys Haji Hassan Liban, 41 years old, Abdiwahab Omar Mubarak Lafoole, 21 years old, and Zakariy Yusuf Hussein, 30 years old. years old, Ibrahim Hassan Mohamed who is 49 years old and Mohamed Abukar Osman who is 34 years old.
Al-Shabaab men said that some of them were spies who had been working for a long time with the intelligence agencies of the Ethiopian and American governments.
Al-Shabaab has been known to carry out executions in the areas under its control against people it says are spies working for the Federal Government of Somalia and foreign governments such as Ethiopia, Kenya, and the United States.
