The governor of Hiran region, Ali Jeyte Osman, who gave a long interview to the Somali language branch of VOA, strongly opposed the process of the government leaders facing the second phase of the operation against the Al-Shabaab group.
He said that he is not satisfied with the way the leaders of the Somali government are facing the second phase of operations against Al-Shabaab and pointed out that the government has reduced the role of local people in the war against Al-Shabaab.
“It needs a national vision that can continue the war. Since the border of Hiraan is crossed, I am not responsible for it. My view is that this war did not start with a national vision. It started suddenly and won. I am there. the rest, maybe the government has better forms, we are waiting for that and what will come out,” said governor Ali Jeyte Osman.
Governor Ali Jeyte also mentioned that the only way to defeat the war against al-Shabaab is the uprising of the people, and that there is no need for the leaders of the federal government to deviate from the formalities they had in the first phase of the successful operation.
“The war we have just entered was a social revolution that the government is helping. It seems that the forms of war have been deviated from. The only way to win the war is to have a social revolution in my view and we have carried it out,” said the governor of Hiran region. Ali Jayte Osman.
This statement by Governor Jeyte comes as the Federal Government has already announced the beginning of the second phase of the war against Al-Shabaab, in which troops from the front line governments are participating.
