Rep. Matt Gaetz, a member of the Republican Party, wants the US troops to be withdrawn from Somalia.
The representative from Fort Walton Beach has issued a new resolution to force President Joe Biden to withdraw US troops from Somalia.
Gaetz said that he submitted a document forcing the House of Representatives to vote in the next 18 days to withdraw US troops from Somalia.
“They should explain why Somalia is in the best interest of the American people at home,” Republican Senator Matt Gaetz tweeted.
Gaetz noted in his statement that while his move to withdraw US troops from Syria earlier this month failed, he still received the support of 103 lawmakers from both parties, including 56 Democrats.
President Joe Biden already sent 500 soldiers to Somalia last May to fight Al-Shabaab.
