The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, together with the President of the Southwest, Mr. Abdazis Hassan Mohamed, last night met with the intellectuals and leaders of the Southwest culture.
President Hassan Sheikh discussed the national plan to eradicate Al-Shabaab and liberate the country. He said he is committed to fighting Al-Shabaab and liberating the country.
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that organizing the people of the South West is important for the second phase of the struggle for the liberation of the country, which he said has the biggest role in the intellectuals, traditional elders and organizations of the South West.
According to the presidency, the South West traditional elders told the president that they stand by him in the fight against al-Shabaab, praising the president’s commitment to a peaceful Somalia free from al-Shabaab.
The second phase of the war against al-Shabaab is being announced by the president in Baidoa, when the first phase was not successful in liberating al-Shabaab from Galmudug and Hirshabeelle. Al-Shabaab is still present in many areas of the two administrations.
