The fourth meeting between Somalia and international friends such as the USA, UK, Qatar, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates is underway in Ankara, Turkey.
The meeting will focus on the situation in Somalia, especially security issues, politics, humanitarian issues, and strategies to achieve peace and stability in Somalia.
A press release from Somalia’s National Security Adviser said that the meeting will focus on reducing ATMIS and efforts to fight terrorism.
With the participation of Qatar, UAE, UK, Turkey and USA, the 4th Quint Somalia conference was held in Ankara. The Operations/Strategy of Counter-Terrorism, ATMIS Transition, Stabilization, and the upcoming Conference on the development of Somalia’s security sector were at the top,” said the statement issued by the National Security Adviser, Hussein Sheikh Ali.
The National Security Adviser emphasized the importance of this meeting to the federal government and its international friends while also acknowledging that they stand by him.
“The Quint remains useful and indispensable to the Federal Government of Somalia and key international security partners,” the statement added.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohamed Bin Asis Bin Salah, underlined the importance of supporting Somalia in order to recognize the Government’s efforts in dealing with security issues. He also said that the government of Qatar is ready to support any negotiation plan to promote security and stability in Somalia.
Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan, Minister of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, reiterated that his government is committed to supporting Somalia in security, economic and political development.
