At least 2 people were injured in a clash between Somaliland police forces and people who are angry about their land being moved from Hargeisa city.

The conflict between the police and the citizens came after it was reported that the land of Police Line in the middle of the Hargeisa market was sold by the government to businessmen to build high-rises.

Residents of this government-owned area, mostly police families, refused to move out, and it was said that the government planned to move them to another place and give them houses and other money.

So, on the second day, protests against the government’s order took place in this area, while the reports say that police officers who are among the residents of the area who refused the order have been arrested.

Somaliland’s opposition parties have condemned the government’s order to sell this land, where these people have lived for many years but do not legally own it.

“It will be forbidden if the government of the nation sells it to you and you buy your livestock. It is a big problem that you have done to the nation. You will not be left behind. It will come after you.” , he said.

Also, the Chairman of the UCID party, Faysal Ali Warabe, said that it is necessary to unite for the defense of Somaliland and the elections, but the government should not be busy with the sale of land.

So, this place is said to be worth a lot of money because it is located in the middle of the market, and some people are saying that these people want to be paid more money than what is currently allocated.
