He told the Senate that the ATMIS reduction strategy is underway, which aims to gradually transfer security responsibilities to the Somali Security Forces.
He said that Kenya, together with the countries that have troops in Somalia and international friends, are actively engaged in supporting the Somali forces in their development. to ensure a secure transition.
The Minister of Defense of Kenya said that the countries where the troops are in Somalia are ready to send 3,000 soldiers, of which Kenya will withdraw 754 soldiers in the 2nd phase and the 3rd phase will start from October 1 to June 30, 2024. , where a total of 4,000 soldiers will go.
