The Minister of Information of the Puntland regional administration, Mohamud Ayid Dirir, has insisted that they will hold a vote and one Person election in January 2024.
The minister made this statement at a press conference held today in Garowe, saying that they have prepared everything to be done in the upcoming elections in Puntland.
The information minister’s statement seems to be a response to Puntland opposition politicians, who accused President Deni of wanting to extend the term.
The minister’s statement comes at a time when two district governors and two deputies were elected in Bosaso city yesterday, while the minister of internal affairs said there is nothing wrong with the two elections.
Today, with the use of military power, one of the elected governors was officially transferred to his post, at a time when there is a strong dispute over the election.
President Deni has 90 days left in his term, and he has been out of the country for almost two months, while the opposition candidates have started campaigning for the presidential election.
