The government of Somaliland has said that the government of Saudi Arabia has stopped the export of Somaliland cattle to its country.
The Minister of Animal Husbandry, Syed Sulub Mohamed, who gave an interview to HCTV, said that an order issued from Jidda stopped the animals.
“The interruption came from Jeddah, the animals go to many countries, all those countries are open, and it will improve, inshallah, and it will not last,” said Minister Sulub.
The minister who explained the reason why the export of animals to Somaliland was stopped, said that the government of Somalia has a hand in stopping them, but he will work to find a solution.
Livestock is one of the most important sources of income for the people of Somaliland, as this year their sales were very good and millions of animals were exported from the port of Berbera.
The Saudi government has repeatedly stopped the export of livestock to Somaliland, and the Somaliland government has repeatedly accused the Somali government of being involved in stopping the export of livestock.
