The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today received the former chairmen of the People’s Assembly and opposition politicians from the administrative areas of South West Somalia in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galgaduud region.
The members of the politicians from the South West have arrived in Dhusamareeb town in the early hours of today, and they have shared with President Hassan Sheikh the political situation in the country, especially that of the South West administrative areas.
The opposition politicians have also made recommendations to the president on the fight against Al-Shabaab, and told the president that they stand by him in the fight to free the country from Al-Shabaab.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has shared with the former Speakers of the Somali Parliament and politicians the important achievements in the war to rid the country of Al-Shabaab, pointing out that it is necessary to unite in order to remove Al-Shabaab from the country in a short period of time. .
He also pointed out to the president that every obstacle can be overcome through unity, compromise and consultation on issues with different views, in order to achieve a Somalia free from the so-called terrorists, as announced in a statement issued by the Somali Presidency.
The officials who met today with President Hassan Sheikh in Dhusamareeb are all candidates for the post of president of the South West administration, and they are set to reach the city of Baidoa in the coming days, the capital of Bay region, as previously announced by the political members who are in opposition to the president of the South West administration, Abdicasis Laftagareen.
