Al-Shabaab has imposed restrictions on Somalia’s largest telecommunications company, Hormuud, from its offices in South and Central Somalia.

These restrictions are said to have affected the company’s headquarters in Jubaland, South West and some parts of Galmudug.

An informed source who asked not to be named for security reasons told WARSOM that the ban on al-Shabaab is related to the company’s transactions with Somali government agencies that opposed al-Shabaab.

Hormuud’s company is also said to be one of the commercial companies that rejected the offer that al-Shabaab called “support,” according to an informed source.

Al-Shabaab has already imposed restrictions on the movement of workers and the company’s fuel vehicles.

The Somali government, the Hormuud company and the al-Shabaab organization have not yet officially spoken about this ban, which is said to have been in place for almost 4 months.

The government of Somalia has said that it is preparing a military offensive against the Al-Shabaab organization, especially in the central regions of Somalia.
