Today, talks between the Speaker of the House of the People of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdulqadir Mohamed Nur, and a committee representing opposition MPs concluded.
The talks, which took place in a calm atmosphere, discussed ways to accelerate the activities of the House and strengthen cooperation among MPs.
The parties agreed on the following points: Neutrality of the House: That the House should be neutral to all parties, while fully protecting the role of the House of the People’s Rules of Procedure, To strengthen the unity, solidarity and cooperation of MPs, so that the activities of legislation, representation and oversight of government institutions can proceed smoothly and effectively, in accordance with Article 7 of the House of the People’s Rules of Procedure and Freedom of Speech and Expression, which reflects that every MP in the House of the People has the right to freely express his views and opinions, while respecting Article 28 of the House’s Rules of Procedure.
The Speaker and Opposition Members of Parliament agreed to jointly attend the sessions of the House, in accordance with Article 23, Paragraph 1 of the Rules of Procedure of the House of the People as announced in the Statement of their session.
