The Office of the Attorney General of Somalia, in collaboration with security agencies, has seized 189 cartons of various types of drugs at Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu.
The drugs seized at Aden Adde Airport were identified as containing pills that were prohibited for use in Somalia, which were intended to be smuggled into the country.
A press release from the Office of the Attorney General, Attorney Suleyman Mohamed Mahmoud, stated that drugs and pills that are prohibited for use and trade and were being illegally imported into the country were seized at Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu.
“The Office of the Attorney General would like to inform the Somali public that a joint operation in collaboration with security agencies resulted in the seizure of 189 boxes of drugs and pills that are prohibited for use and trade and were being illegally imported into the country,” the press release from the Office of the Attorney General said.
The press release also stated that the office is conducting investigations into the networks involved in the importation of this drug, and that they will be brought to justice.
Finally, the press release did not state when the drug was seized, where it was imported from, or if there are any people in custody for this act, other than that an investigation is ongoing.
