The President of Jubbaland, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe), said that he has no confidence in the national elections committee appointed by the Federal Government of Somalia, accusing the committee of being selected from Bakara market.
President Ahmed Madobe has stated that the reason he left the National Consultative Assembly was the establishment of this committee, which he described as not being done in a legally acceptable manner.
“Those on the committee know that they have no legitimacy. It is Abdalle Shideye. What they are doing is not a Somali thing. It is something that belongs to the company,” said Ahmed Madobe, speaking for the first time about the reasons for the conflict with the Federal Government.
Also, he noted that Jubbaland rejected the plan of the Federal Government of Somalia, which was to make the electoral commissions a single commission that manages the national and regional elections.
Ahmed Madobe said that President Hassan Sheikh and his political friends believe that they can stay in power in the country without legitimacy.
