The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed Ali, who arrived in Mogadishu today, concluded the visit that lasted for four hours and had a special meeting with the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, to strengthen the relationship between the two governments.

The meeting between the President of Somalia and the Prime Minister of Ethiopia was focused on strengthening cooperation in the fields of security, economy and social affairs, as they strengthened the historical relationship and neighborliness of the two peoples which is the basis of national mutual respect and beyond the interference in the internal affairs of each country.

The statement issued at the end of the meeting between President Hassan Sheikh and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed welcomed the start of technical talks in Ankara, as agreed in the Ankara Declaration, expressing their commitment to constructive dialogue and cooperation.

The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, thanked the Government and the people of Somalia for the warm welcome they received him and his delegation, and emphasized the priority that his country gives to bilateral relations between Somalia, as a reflection of the interests of both countries and the stability of the region.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who praised Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for his visit to the country and the fruitful talks they held at Villa Somalia, reiterated the traditional view of Somalia’s diplomacy for the protection of good neighborliness, national self-respect and that no one is allowed to violate the unity and solidarity of the people and the Federal Republic of Somalia.
