The Puntland administration said that the weapon seized yesterday in Shilo Madow area of Galgaduud region is a great threat to the stability of the region and peace in Somalia.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Puntland, Abdi Farah Saeed Juha, said that the illegal weapons seized in Galgaduud region is part of the result of the lifting of the arms embargo in Somalia, which he said was a quick step.

“It is a big mistake to lift the arms embargo in a country that does not have a legally and politically agreed government. A country that can’t secure its borders, and control its own country; and the people are not in agreement,” said Minister Juxa.

The Minister of Justice of Puntland, Mohamed Abdiwahab, accused the federal government of wanting to start a civil war in Puntland and Galmudug. He said that the aim is to ensure that elections and accountability are not discussed and President Hassan Sheikh gets an extension.

“The weapon that came into the hands of the Aabudwaq community is one of the threats and civil wars that the federal government is waging in Mudug and Galgaduud and these weapons were used to disturb the peace of Puntland and Galmudug,” said the Minister of Justice.

Puntland has already said that during the two years that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been in office, there has been an increase in inter-clan conflict and the loss of trust between the tribes living on the road.

However, the federal government of Somalia has not yet given any response to the weapons incident, and the allegations that NISA forces were involved in the transfer of these weapons.
