The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Daoud Aweys Jamam, has congratulated Somali journalists on celebrating the International Press Freedom Day, which is celebrated every year on this day.

The Minister of Information of Somalia has first of all praised the Somali Journalists for their hard work for the people and government of Somalia.

“The effective role of public life, truth telling, transparency, and democracy, I admit that the role of public awareness is obvious and necessary,” said Minister of Information Daoud Aweys Jama’a.

Daoud Aweys also asked Somali journalists to play a major role in raising awareness of the problems caused by climate change which has greatly affected the whole world, and Somalia is one of the victims of local climate change.

He also mentioned to the Minister that the Somali government is committed to protecting the freedom, safety of the press, ensuring transparency and the right to access information for Somali journalists.

“There is a big agenda to support and encourage the media. As a government, we are determined to improve the quality of our media and the training that journalists receive. I believe that trained and knowledgeable journalists are important for a good government and sustainable development. and reach our country” said Minister Daoud Aweys Jama.
