The Chairman also noted that the issuance of voting cards is proceeding smoothly in all districts of the Banadir region, with the deadline for political organizations to submit their lists of candidates being December 20, 2025.
The Chairman urged all political parties to complete the registration of candidates, so that the election is transparent, in accordance with the electoral laws, and reflects the will of the Somali people.
However, a general election in the Banadir region will be the first time in more than 50 years that such an election has been held in the country’s capital. Nearly one million people have registered for the elections, although the number who received cards is very small compared to the number who registered.
